Approximately thirteen million people last year visited the sunny-seaside town of Blackpool and that figure is set to rise in 2015.*
With cheap overseas destinations and guaranteed sunshine, how is Blackpool bucking the seaside-town trend and pulling in more and more visitors, year on year?
Family Entertainment Everyone knows there’s no shortage of things to do in Blackpool. But it’s the sheer range of Blackpool’s offering that’s uniquely impressive.
Families and young children are spoilt for choice from a variety of fun and exciting activities. The Pleasure Beach in Blackpool promises the ultimate ‘family day out’ with eleven thrill rides – including the famous ‘Big One’ with a nail-biting 235ft drop and the UK’s only Nickelodeon Land – featuring all your favourite TV characters. They also offer a selection of shows which prove popular with the old and young alike! Such as the Hot Ice show and annual pantomime.
Then of course, there’s Blackpool’s Zoo – featuring over 1500 animals and insects set over 32 acres and the Sandcastle Waterpark, with over eighteen slides and attractions, including water slides, fun pools, wave machines and lazy river water shoots.
Finally, let’s not forget the most famous attraction of all – The Blackpool Tower, which houses five major attractions all under one roof (or, tower, we should say!). The Tower Circus has been a family favourite since 1894 and to this day, still continues to delight and surprise its visitors.
The Blackpool Tower Dungeon is a relatively new attraction as part of the Tower, featuring an amazing cast of theatrical actors and an exciting thrill ride that delves into the depths of a 1000 years of Lancashire’s murky past.
Blackpool isn’t just for families and stag and hens, a record number of the 50+ visit the resort year on year, and with everything to see and do, it’s easy to see why!
Often described as Blackpool’s hidden gem (although it’s pretty easy to spot!), The Grand Theatre, Blackpool offers year round entertainment in the form of top-quality drama, opera, ballet and of course, their famous panto!
The Tower Ballroom, based in Blackpool Tower is one of Blackpool’s absolute treasures. Famous for its sprung dance floor and spectacular architecture, the Ballroom plays host to thousands of dancers every month.
Finally, who could forget the famous seaside! With sandy-coloured beaches that go for miles and miles, many take the opportunity to enjoy a leisurely stroll in the sunshine.
Blackpool welcomes plenty of young people each year who are looking to have fun and celebrate. Often it attracts stag and hen groups to the centre, who are drawn to the many bar and clubs and above all, the atmosphere!
Funny Girls, is one of Blackpool’s famous attractions which often lets hen dos and groups wanting to celebrate through its doors. It’s a unique burlesque cabaret show featuring male dancers and drag performers and is guaranteed to make you have a good time!
